The 2015-2016 AGM was held this year at the STU campus, where many topics arose from LCNB’s actions throughout the year and ones yet to come.

The provincial government has been presented with the report The Power of Literacy – Moving towards New Brunswick’s Comprehensive Literacy Strategy, which contains recommendations to improve literacy rates in the province and foster a culture of lifelong learning.

The LCNB is proud to have been selected to be featured in one of the many excellent webcasts at the 2016 Skills Canada National competition held in Moncton! Our Executive Director Lynda Homer sat along side other great panelists such as; Paul Carter from NBCC, Dan Ferko President of Sirco Machinery Company Ltd, as well as Gillian Mason from ABC Life Literacy Canada who acted as Moderator. Together we discussed the important issue of “Essential Skills as the Foundation of Learning”, thank you all for this wonderful opportunity!

Our guest speaker was Ted Nolan, former professional hockey player and former head coach of the Buffalo Sabres and Latvian men’s national hockey team. The Peter Gzowski Award winner was Joan Kenny, and our Literacy Champion award went to Robert Irving. Another special highlight of the evening was the award presentations to the winners of the Adult Learner’s Writing Contest.
